A worked example
Say you need a sitter twice this month.
Care.com: To message caregivers you hold a Premium membership, which bills monthly whether you book two sitters or none, from $12.99 up to $38.99 a month depending on your billing term.
Bobby (being built): With Bobby it is a flat $1 a booking and no membership, so two sitters cost $2 and a month where you book nobody costs you nothing.
The whole thing is a subscription. A free basic account lets a family search profiles and post a job, but private messaging is locked to Premium, which bills $38.99 a month, or $24.99 a month on the quarterly plan, or $12.99 a month if you pay for the year. What you are buying is the membership itself, not a fee tied to any one booking.
So your cost tracks time, not care. A family that finds someone in a day pays the same monthly fee as one still searching a month later, and a quiet month with no bookings still shows up on the bill.
